About the event

In this workshop we’ll explore a variety of natural dyes: some wild ones like goldenrod, some that you can grow in your gardens like madder and onion, and one or two that are a little more exotic (insect dyes anyone?).

Prin has been growing dye plants and dyeing her yarn and wool for spinning for more than 15 years, and is passionate about teaching others to develop these skills and relationships with plants and their craft.

Come join us, and learn an ancient craft, in good company.  We’ll practice immersion dyeing with an alum mordant, which works well for all protein fibers.  You’ll leave with a bundle of colorful skeins, a new skill, and inspiration for a winter's worth of knitting and a summer's worth of gardening.

Limited to 8 participants.

Cost: $100

Classes will all be taught outside, with a backup plan in case of rain. The location is rustic, and participants should be comfortable being outdoors and working on the ground for most of the day. Address and directions will be shared with participants prior to the workshop.

Please bring your own lunch and a blanket or chair to sit on. Contact Ellie Brown ejb.615@gmail.com with any questions.

COVID guidelines: All instruction will be taking place outdoors and socially distanced. We ask that all participants please wear a mask when social distancing is not possible (i.e. one on one instruction). We will be in touch prior to each workshop if anything changes.
