About the event

You are invited to a physically distanced, socially strengthening member appreciation gathering in the open air meadow at Kearsarge Gore Farm! We are excited to bring our community together in a responsible manner which means that we require everyone to maintain a minimum of 6 feet or more distance at all times from anyone you didn’t arrive with and bring everything you need to ensure a contactless and comfortable event for every individual attending. Masks will be required while walking around and optional once you are seated at an appropriate distance from other groups. If you are unable or unwilling to go the distance to respect the safety of others we respectfully ask you to not attend and wait for future events when precautions can be relaxed.

This will be Odds Bodkin’s first in-person performance since March. Please arrive early to park, find your spot and be seated by 6:30pm.  The Warner Public Market crew will take some time to welcome everyone, share some words before the performance and thank you for your support! We will be limiting this outdoor event to 100 guests.

*** Please RSVP by September 26th. ****

About the Performance

As tall as twelve men standing on each other’s shoulders, the Cyclops is ravenous and powerful. In the end, the one-eyed beast devours six of Odysseus’s men, trapped in the cave. This after being blown by a storm to the ends of the earth. All Odysseus wants is to go home to Ithaca and hold his wife and son. But he’s about to lose ten more years of his life, lost on the trackless sea. At least he took no casualties on the Island of the Lotus Eaters, all of them drugged into a mindless dream. Unlike the massacre on the beach at Ismaros. That was his fault. A bad decision.

After exploring ancient Greek lore while playing Celtic harp, storyteller Odds Bodkin plays his 12-string guitar to perform THE ODYSSEY: BELLY OF THE BEAST, his most popular university level performance. From Odysseus’s broodings inside the Trojan

Horse to the wild escape from the Cave of the Cyclops, Odds tells this 70-minute Homeric myth with haunting music, a host of vivid character voices and vocal effects conjuring roaring storms and flying arrows.

Homer’s The Odyssey is the first great novel of Western literature. This is Odds Bodkin’s action adventure version of the story. Episodes include the Trojan Horse, the Sack of Troy, Pirates at Ismaros, the Lotus Eaters and Cave of the Cyclops. All told with a dramatic ongoing score of original acoustic music. Odds has told this epic to standing ovations at the National Storytelling Festival, the MFA in Boston and at universities across America and Great Britain. Bodkin has been called “a consummate storyteller” by The New York Times and “a modern-day Orpheus” by Billboard.
